Research Opportunities for Undergraduates

BME students

All BME students are encouraged to participate in undergraduate research. Students have the opportunity to participate in the senior honors thesis program, under the advisorship of a UH faculty member. This provides excellent preparation for graduate school and valuable career credential as well.

A few research program options are listed below:

Undergraduate Research at UH — Office of Undergraduate Research, Honors College

The Provost's Undergraduate Research Scholarship Program provides talented UH Juniors and Seniors with the opportunity to participate in a research project under the direction of a UH faculty mentor. University Scholars receive $1000 scholarships for one semester of research (while taking classes). Interested BME students should contact faculty performing BME-related research regarding possible projects and sponsorship of a University Scholars Application.

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF)

SURF provides funding for sophomores, juniors and seniors to participate in a ten-week research project under the supervision of UH facutly. The program is intended to expose students to Biomedical Engineering research. Details of this fellowship are available here.
