Imaging

Medical imaging, the science and engineering of creating visual representations of the interior and parts of the human body for clinical analysis and medical intervention, and to develop visual representation of the function of organs and/or tissue, is an area of focus for our faculty. They are developing new imaging modalities to detect and diagnose diseases. Our faculty are undertaking ground-breaking research using tissue functional imaging (based on Optical Coherence Tomography), protein biosensing (based on nanooptics) and cancer diagnostics using positron emission tomography (PET) and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and x-ray digital tomosynthesis (DT).
